January Weekends

Some good things must come to an end, so we have returned our living room to the pre-giftmas configuration and packed our tree and ornaments in storage for another year. I did however receive my last gift January 9th - Jenn got us a class for basic knife skills at The Chopping Block. Seeing as how much we cook Jenn figured it'd be wise to learn how to properly use a knife; it was definitely worth our time! We learned from the professionals (really, professional cooks) how to wield a chef's knife, what some of the lesser known knives are for, etc, and we had the opportunity to chop up some veggies while being critiqued. While we were cutting up the veggies we also got the chance to use several different brands and models of chef's knives and both decided the Shun 8" chef's knife was our favorite knife, so we purchased it along with an Epicurean cutting board.

Yesterday Jenn and I took in Avatar 3D on the IMAX. The movie is fantastic - an excellent story and beautifully rendered. The 3D part was interesting - the glasses were a bit strange to wear and it felt like you had to focus on exactly what they wanted you to focus on which drew away from the ability to really take in all the detail of the picture. I'm looking forward to seeing Avatar again on our TV so we can further explore the world of Pandora.
