First Cubs game of 2009

Tuesday Jenn and I decided to take the day off work, and venture to the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field and catch the Cubs take on the San Fransisco Giants from the bleachers.

This is the first game we're going to this year - we have tickets to a night game coming up in July, but we figured it'd be nice to catch a day game before it gets too hot out, and then a night game when it finally does get too hot to be out in the day.

The game started out slightly overcast, however the sun peaked out just in time to make the cold, frosty beverages quite enjoyable. Unfortunately (although not unpredicted) the Cubs lost the game. We've seen the Bears win, the Bulls win, and the Blackhawks win; however we just can't seem to make it to a game when the Cubs pull one out.

However, I must sign off here. Jenn's playing with her new Canon Digital Rebel XSi and we have Mogwai tickets for tonight at the Congress theater.

We moved!

We got the keys to our new place last Thursday and have barely stopped moving since. Thursday night after work, we spent the evening hanging curtain rods and curtains (<3 Ikea) at the new place. On Friday, we had AT&T come to setup the phone and DSL, put together the new tv stand, itso shelves, some wire shelving, and our new Ikea chair. After getting everything assembled, we spent the rest of Friday moving all of the kitchen stuff and other miscellaneous things that we decided not to try to pack.

On Saturday, the movers showed up around 1:30 to get started. It took five and a half hours, 3 movers, Jeremy, Brandon, Nick, Erin, and myself to finally get all of the furniture and boxes moved. After everything was unloaded, we made a quick trip to Subway for some food and proceeded to spend the better part of the next 36 hours unpacking the entire place. We were actually both pleasantly surprised when we realized that we had moved and unpacked our entire condo in less than 5 days. The only thing we have left to do now is put stuff on the walls.

It's been cloudy/rainy here the last week so we haven't been able to get many decent pictures, but make sure you check out the ones we were able to get! (More to come later when it's sunny outside and/or we finally get stuff up on the walls).

Addendum

I forgot two things, which necessitates another entry.

First, I must admit I was partially wrong. While arguing (mostly inebriated by this point) that if on a game show, if you are presented with three doors, you select door number 1, and the host informs you that the losing door is not door number 3, and offers for you to select door number 2, you should definitely switch; I errantly concluded the choice to have gone from a 1/3 chance of being correct to 50-50. This is incorrect - it's actually 2/3 in your favor of being the door you did not originally select. Yes, that's right, if you bring us out and put us in a bar with strangers, we will find a way to geek out, and will argue over the Monty Hall Problem at great length. It was a great time, and I would like the record to show that only my math was wrong (Jenn, of course, was correct from the get go).

Second, on Sunday we made another batch of our absolutely delicious vegan lasagna and garlic bread. That in and of itself deserves a post - it's just that good.

Happy (beltated) birthday to me

Yesterday marked the 28th year I have graced this planet with my existence, and it proved to be a fantastic day. Jenn wasn't feeling the best in the morning, so I entertained her with a Super Mario Galaxy mini-marathon. By mid-afternoon Jenn was feeling better, so we went down to Earwax in Wicker Park, where we enjoyed a great meal (and no dishes, hooray! :) ). We heard great reviews about The Corner which we had made plans to check out, and Jenn decided to be a champ and tough it out while we explored a new bar in the city. We were not let down.

The place was fantastic - the people were extremely friendly and everyone had a great time. The drinks were cold and cheap, the juke box was constantly belting out decent to good tunes, and some of our best friends managed to make it out to help celebrate. There were great conversations and good times all around.

We've got pictures up in the gallery, so be sure to check them out.

We fail at updating (again)

As mentioned many, many times already on this blog... we fail at updating :) A couple weekends ago we made a trip to Iowa to see the newest member of the family - baby Johnathan. He was very sleepy the whole time we were there, so we didn't get to interact with him much, but he was still adorable with his tiny hands and nose. In addition to meeting the newest human addition, we also got to meet Jeremy's sister's new puppy (25% wolf) - Jax. He was adorable and super friendly, and quite big for a 3 month old puppy. With the size of his paws I imagine that he will probably be as tall as I am before he stops growing!

While in Iowa we also stopped in Waterloo on Saturday night to catch an Iowa Challenge (MMA and kickboxing). Some of the fights were decent, and the company was good, but for the most part, it was what you would expect from an amateur show.

Other than the trip to Iowa, our time has mostly been consumed by packing (we move into our new place on the 25th!) and playing lots of Wii. We picked up some new games for the Wii last week and it's been downhill ever since... We got: Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8 (noticing a pattern?), Tetris Party, World of Goo, Dr Mario, and Defend Your Castle.

And lastly, I finally got around to adding pictures to the gallery! Here are the pics from when Mike was in the city, here is a pic of yummy taco pizza that we made, and some random pics from 09.

Edit - Here is a link to the pics from our trip to DSM
