Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints

Last Thursday, Jeremy and I had the pleasure of going to our first ever Chicago Bears game! It was a great game with the Bears returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown and then proceeding to win in overtime. We spent the entire game outside but had to journey into the club to watch overtime on the monitors because it was starting to get a bit too cold. I can't stress the importance of club level seats enough! We were only able to get a few pictures because of the cold, but make sure you check them out here!

Today is a good day.

So what were you doing this time last year?

For us, we were starting our lives together, officially. One year ago today we updated our facebook statuses to reflect that we were in a relationship, and we all know that facebook is life. Last year on this day is the day we both decided to stop pretending that we weren't in a relationship, and it's been a fantastic year since! :)

Coming up we're finalizing the menu for our second Thanksgiving together, and our first that we'll be preparing ourselves. We're thinking marinated tofu, stuffing, biscuits and gravy, some potatoes of some sort, and a veggie for the main items, along with a pumpkin pie for desert, and we're making everything from scratch. I, for one, can't wait to sink our teeth into what I'm sure will be a fantastic meal, as we're getting to be quite the good little cooks.

Pub Golf!

Over the weekend Jeremy and I were back in Iowa visiting some friends. On Friday, our friend Kara had organized a Pub Golf outing at 9 bars on Main St. The rules were as follows:

  • How to Play
    • Drink the official drink for the hole at each bar
    • Number of sips DIVIDED BY 2 (ROUND UP) = number of strokes
    • A sip is continuously drinking until you either have to stop or the drink is finished
    • MAXIMUM SCORE PER HOLE = TRIPLE BOGEY
    • 20 minutes per hole – if you’re not done, you get MAX SCORE
    • Golf attire is encouraged
  • The WILD CARD drinks may be drank at any of the WATER HOLES, but you MUST drink each of the WILD CARD drinks at least once:
    • Red Bull and Vodka
    • Ice Water (hey we all need a break)
    • Beer/malt liquor of your choice
    • Something fruity
    • Player’s Choice (must be standard alcoholic drink, no shots)
  • Additional drinks or water may be drank at any hole without penalty, but NO BONUS POINTS will be given
  • LADIES TEES: some folks don’t like mandatory drinks, or may want to SUBSTITUTE for a drink they don’t like. This means you play the LADIES TEES on this hole. When playing the LADIES TEES, you can drink any drink you want, but take a TWO STROKE penalty.
  • If you do not drink on a hole, you take the maximum of TRIPLE BOGEY
  • RESTROOMS: may only be used at WATER HOLES – use of the restroom at a non-water hole will result in a TWO STROKE penalty
  • Golf is a game of honor, if you get caught cheating, you are scum

Everyone had a blast and we are definitely looking forward to playing another round! (In case you were curious, I aced all of the holes :D) Make sure to check out the pics here.

A gift for the girl

Yesterday after a rough weekend (death in the family), I decided that Jenn needed more smiles in her life, so I set about getting her a nice little present to put some cheer into her day.

Now, I'm not the sneakiest man in the world, but allow me to share what I did for my wonderful wife yesterday. Jenn's been wanting to get back to Ikea for awhile now to pick up a picture frame for her desk at work, but we never seem to make it up that way. Over the weekend we made a trip back to Iowa and Jenn had some pictures from the wedding that she really liked, so while she was in getting ready for the day I snuck downstairs and copied those images to another memory card and slipped it into my pocket. I drove to work yesterday to head down to a data center to do some work, finished that up earlier than expected, so I decided to beat traffic and head out to Ikea to pick up the picture frame Jenn had her eyes on.

On my way back into town I swung by a Target, began printing out the photos when my phone rang - Jenn was calling. I panicked, thinking she would hear the target announcements or the stupid printer yelling about how awesome of a job it was doing messing up the balance in the images. Fortunately (or unfortunately) she simply wanted to ask me to pick up some soy ice cream to ease her sore throat, so I added Jewel to the list of places to stop and off I went, armed now with the pictures I knew she liked, the picture frame I knew she wanted, and little book for additional pictures. A detour to Trader Joes to pick up some bread, tofu, and clif bars and then a quick Jewel stop to grab the soy ice cream and I was finally on my way home.

I walked in the door to see my beautiful bride, and after giving her her present I got the biggest hug and best smile yet.

I love you Jenn :) Think of me whenever you look at your picture frame!

The first weeks of married life

So far I must say that married life is great! Jeremy and I are both happy to have all the wedding planning behind us and to finally be able to concentrate on just spending time together and having fun :)

We've gotten most of the wedding pictures back and are now working on editing the pics and are hoping to start on the wedding album soon! There are tons of pictures that we absolutely love and hope to have more up on the site as soon as possible.

Other than the remaining miscellaneous wedding related things (thank you notes, changing my name, etc), things have been pretty quiet around here. A couple weeks ago, Jeremy and I had box seats at the Chicago Blackhawks game which was a lot of fun even though they lost. We were able to snap a few pics which you can see here. We've also been trying lots of yummy new food lately including Avocado, carrot, and zucchini sushi, Black Bean & Tortilla soup, and several variations of scrambled tofu. Now that we've got fancy new kitchen gadgets and dishes, we're hoping to broaden our culinary horizons even more! So be on the look out for new pics in the Foods! gallery.
