I got my finger bling!

As the title says, I got my finger bling! Jenn and I were married September 25th at the Chicago marriage court. It's reassuring when people see us and know we're happy. It's obvious to those around us how deeply in love we are and how much fun we have together. Sometimes it's even been known to catch a judge off guard. :)

After we were officially hitched we headed back to the apartment, rounded up the shopping list for our first (of many!) fancy meals and picked up the ingredients for some spinach and tofu lasagna, accented by Jenn's amazing garlic bread. The meal, of course turned out absolutely delicious and produced copious amounts of left overs.

Friday Jenn and I enjoyed our lasagna breakfast, loaded up the car, and headed to Iowa to finish running errands and get everything together for the reception. Saturday rolled around, Pete and Brandon helped by taking some pictures before the reception, and Kara snapped some reception shots. We'll be adding more, so check back!

Everything came together lovely - the decorations looked great, the mints were a smash hit, and everybody loved the cupcakes. There was dancing and drinking, and I think everybody had a wonderful time at the reception - Jenn and I sure did.

We want to thank everybody again that made the trip, and thank you to everybody for the well wishes. Jenn and I are certainly excited for our lives together!

Only one week left!

We are coming down to the final days! :D

As Jeremy mentioned in his last post, things have been quite hectic around here lately, but definitely not in a bad way. I absolutely love my new job and wedding planning is finally all coming together. We've got all the timelines setup, orders placed, reservations made, and everything purchased. There are only a few minor things to finish up and then we'll be all set! Somewhere in all the chaos we even found time to make roughly 900 mints. Yes, 900. Luckily Jeremy was a pro and it only took us about 6 hours total.

While our lives have been mostly consumed by work and wedding planning, we have found some time to play with our new toy - a Nintendo Wii! I got it as a surprise for Jeremy because of how amazing he's been through all of the wedding planning. :) He's already logged many hours in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and we've both logged a few hours in Wii Fit. Wii Fit is definitely my favorite Wii game so far, although I have high hopes for Rock Band 2 when it comes out. The great thing about Wii Fit is not only is it fun, but it's also challenging and forces you to get up and move around. The game utilizes the included balance board and you get to do things like Yoga (different poses, focusing on keeping steady), Weight Training (exercises such as squats and plank focusing on proper form and balance), Aerobics (things such as hula-hooping, step aerobics, and running), and Balance Games (tightrope walk, snowboarding, ski jumping, all focusing on balance).

So there you have it - one week left, life is great, wedding planning is coming together, and the two of us couldn't be happier :D

To School!

We continue to lead extremely hectic and busy lives as we ramp up for our wedding, which is a mere 42 days away.

Making matters more hectic is Jenn started her new job Monday, so we've lost a lot of the time we previously had to work on the wedding. A silver lining to that dark cloud (well, a dark cloud according to our kitty who no longer gets to lay on Jenn while she's home) is that Jenn's schedule, which she sets herself, matches my own, and we ride the school bus (ok, the CTA, we've gotten into the habit of calling our jobs 'school') in the morning to work together, where I get off at the Chicago stop, and she continues on into the loop to her building.

It's nice taking mass transit together in the morning. We have our morning schedules worked out so that we both are finishing getting ready at the same time, come downstairs and I grab a bite to eat for breakfast (Jenn's job provides breakfast food). From there, thanks to the CTA bus tracker website we know exactly when the next bus is due, so it's extremely easy planning our morning jaunt down Milwaukee Avenue into the loop.

We're still ping-ponging back and forth on the arrival times home - I have a half mile walk from the office to the blue line train I take home, and the girl is still figuring out traffic conditions at different times in the afternoon, however I'm confident we will work it out, so we're getting home within a few minutes of each other.

On a side note, Jenn taught me how to cross stitch, and I'm currently working on the Eagle and Tri-force emblem from The Legend of Zelda, which I can't wait to post pictures of. I'm planning on framing the work when it's complete - I've put that much time and effort into it. I easily have 10 hours worth of stitching done, and I'm about 3/4ths of the way complete. Had I been a thinking man I would have taken some pictures of the piece as I was going along, but alas, I did not. In the mean time you can check out Jenn and my's other crafty endeavors here, of course. The plan is to finish the cross stitch before the wedding, so time will tell if I can accomplish that.

Less than 2 months!

We are officially under the two month mark and while we have a lot done, there is still plenty to do!

Done (in no particular order):

  • Dress, veil (thanks entirely to Jeremy's sister and parents!) and shoes
  • Invites mailed
  • Table cloths, napkins, and center pieces (although we might expand on this)
  • Hotel reservations
  • Rings
  • Venue, dj, caterer

To do (in no particular order):

  • Cake or non-cake plans (Yes, you read that correctly - there might not be cake in the traditional sense. We like breaking traditions :) )
  • Guest book and card box
  • Tux and shoes
  • Hair, make-up, jewelry
  • Time lines
  • 'Vows'/toasts to be read at the reception
  • Marriage license
  • Find and fill out required paperwork to change my name

I must say that the more we get done and the closer the wedding gets, the more excited I get! I can't wait until September!
